Trekking
In the area there are many tracks for all levels. The most easiest and accessible will take you up to the top of the island from where you will be able to see most of lake Mosvatn and – on a clear day – the top of Southern Norway’s highest mountain Gausta. Other walks can be arranged and will all start with a boat trip to the starting point of the hike.

There are many routes in the area ranging from beginner to advanced!

There are a range of very accessible peaks in the area which have great views. Families with children will have no trouble reaching the tops of these mountains. During the walks you are likely to find many forms of wildlife.

Before arrival, please inform with our staff what you should bring as this very much depends on the type of trekking you are willing to undertake.

Fishing
Every morning you will wake up seeing a huge lake in front of you. A temptation a fisherman could not resist. However, it is also a temptation a beginner will find hard to reject. At Mosstrond we have fishing gear for those who would like to give it a go and we promise that any catch you make can be consumed during dinner time!

Boating
Sunbathing at Mosstrond? Yes of course! The island has various beaches only accessible by boat. The perfect place to relax at the lakeside and unwind. At Mosstrond we have kayaks and canoes at your disposal and we highly recommend a circumnavigation of the island and enjoy the deserted beaches it has to offer.

The lake can be used for various activities, like boating

For the more serious boaters the possibilities are limitless as Lake Mosvatn is one of the largest in Southern Norway. You can take your boat to any one of the many beaches of the lake and start your hike from there, or just simply spend the day on the water enjoying the passing scenery.
